The Oystercatcher Otter Ferry is part of the wonderful 'Scotland's Secret Coast'. After a woodland and moor filed route along the 10-mile single-track road, you look upon the beautiful and unspoilt view of Loch Fyne. On the left, you will see the whitewashed, yellow doored pub sitting perfectly next to the lapping lochside.
The pub is part of the Ballimore Estate ancestral seat of Clan McRae of Cochran, which include the fantastic Ballimore House which in all its glory overlooks Loch Fyne and the Baillimore Oyster Farm.
The pub... we have a stunning garden that's situated on the front of the building overlooking the stunning view of Loch Fyne. During the summer months, you will see many boats mooring on the loch, and if you're lucky you might even spot a seal or two. When it's cold and grey outside there is a cosy bar with a log burner to enjoy dinner or just a glass of wine.
We are a dog-friendly pub having two of our own, Lilo & Stitch, currently, only 6 months old they are two balls of life and absolutely loving their Scottish lifestyle... you may catch a glimpse of them playing in the garden.
Catch of the day
Our Menu is a balance of classic pub dishes and the 'Catch of the day'
We pride ourselves in making sure we have tasty classics using the array of incredible locally sourced & sustainable produce, from locally sourced venison to make into a delicious game pie or the hand-dived scallops fresh from the loch that sits outside our window.
Our attitude to food is a nose to tail concept, reduce waste to a minimum and only use sustainable produce, that we know has very little impact on the wonderful landscape we surround ourselves with.
Here at the Oystercatcher, we welcome all, especially if they have a cute button nose and a fluffy tail, we are a dog-friendly pub and we more than encourage you to bring along your furry friends! Please just be aware when booking if you don't like dogs to consider this as there are pooches here every day, the 3 beautiful pups you see to the right here are our pets and they walk around the pub as this is their home and they all want to welcome you, possibly with a small lick & a bark, (from left to right) Miss Lilo, Miss Copper & Mr. Stitchy
Team Oystercatcher, woof woof x
Local & Sustainable
The area of Argyll is teeming with life, just along the loch heading towards the beautiful town of Inveraray, there is a great farm brewery called Loch Fyne Ales, not only do they supply fantastic & tasty beers, larger's and IPAs, but they also rear a heard of Red Deer for venison, 27 highland cows along with two bulls - Freddy & Seamus and also with these gorgeous fluff balls they have around a 100 sheep.
On the opposite side of the loch, there is Prentice Seafoods, supplying locally caught, lobsters, prawns, brown crab, velvet crab, king scallops, and squat lobster tails.
Ballimore Oysters always have a home on our menu, with the Oyster farm being located 5 minutes along the estate it would be rude not to, you can't say fresher than that, they are beautiful and plump.
Doesn't that all sound absolutely fantastic! Teamed with a rich, hearty glass of red or a crisp, chilled glass of white.
